Log loaders are a crucial part of every logging operation, as they are the primary means for loading and unloading logging trucks. There are a number of log loader types commonly in use, some of which are self-propelled units equipped with wheels or tracks, and others that are mounted on trailers or designed for stationary use. Trailer log loaders fall into the latter category, but they use the same basic combination of a hydraulic boom and grapple to pick up logs as the wheel and track varieties. Because they must be towed into position and don't have the same mobility on inclines and rough terrain as some track and wheel models, trailer log loaders are best for use in logging operations that are near roadways or have access to flat landing areas for loading and unloading logs.
